Mission

SupportPrisonerResistance.net is a broad-based non-sectarian clearing house of information and resources for outside support. SPR is a source of information only. We believe that the US prison system depends on great institutional violence, slavery and torture, but we do not advocate, encourage or intend to incite any action against this system, legal or illegal, violent or non-violent.

This website is only a clearing house of information and communication from prisoners who are engaged in various forms of resistance against the systems and facilities that confine them. We provide this information because we believe the general public has a right and an obligation to know what is going on inside the US prisons.

We also provide information about acts of solidarity and support taken by or called for on the outside. Again, this is for information and educational purposes only. No one involved in SPR is responsible for choices made by our readers or the views expressed in any material we repost or publish.

The last few years has seen a steady increase in prisoner protests, from work strikes in Georgia, Alabama, and North Carolina, to hunger strikes at supermax prisons in Ohio, California and Illinois, to many other forms of protest and resistance all across the country. Everyday in many ways prisoners attempt to stand up for themselves and assert their rights all across this country, often facing severe and violent retaliation.

Committed support and engagement from people on the outside can make all the difference in these struggles, but it often feels like a daunting task. As the struggles for prisoner rights and against mass incarceration continue, we hope to collect the knowledge of both experienced activists and inspired new comers to increase the capacity of supporters who may sustain a movement against prison
